안녕하세요 미리비입니다. 오늘은 인간의 건강에 관련된 이야기를 해 보도록 하겠습니다. 점점 인간의 기대수명이 늘어나면서 모든 사람들은 예전보다 중장년을 오래 보내게 되고, 그에 따라 그 시기를 건강하고 행복하게 보내야 한다는 생각이 있는데요. 과연 건강이란 무엇일까요? 지금 우리가 건강하다고 생각하는 개념은 과연 미래에도 비슷하게 이해될 수 있을까요?

 

The view of human health

Today, if a person is destined to live into his or her 80s without a detectable disease, exerciseable, and suffering from obvious old age, he or she will consider himself or herself physically healthy. But these standards are changing. If Aubrey de Grey, a biogeologist who views aging as an engineering problem that allows for a complete solution, is right, being able to walk a mile on your 100th birthday may not always mean structural "health." The time may come when not being able to run a marathon at the age of 500 will be considered a serious disability. This radical change in our view of human health would not imply that the current concept of health and disease is arbitrary or merely subjective or culturally constructed. In fact, the difference between a healthy person and a dead person is as clear and significant a distinction as we have made in science. Even if new unexplored areas await us from both directions, the difference between the height of human fulfillment and the depth of human misery is clear.
